The Children of Sts. Peter and Paul Academy want to give a big shout out of THANK YOU to all of our wonderful sponsors and contributors. It is with your support and participation that we were able to reach our goal of $40,000 again this year. The children appreciate your hard work and volunteerism that go into making this such a wonderful community event.
This year we had 304 people register, 197 official finishers, and many who just came to the post race party to enjoy the SPPA Dance Team performance. The band, “What She Said,” was outstanding again this year. The John Morrell Love Van was grilling hot dogs and serving them up to hungry party goers outside in the beer garden by the fire barrels. Inside we had Penn Station sandwiches, Sammy’s Gourmet Burgers, LaRosa’s Pizza, McDonald’s apples, United Dairy Farmer’s ice cream, JTM BBQ and Chili, and spaghetti from Vonderhaar’s to go with our contributors home-made chili. We had beautiful baskets donated by each class from the Academy to raffle off. We had a round of Split the Pot and there were a few items in the silent auction bid, (which wasn’t always so silent!)
All in all, it was one of our best attended events. Thank you for your part in this year’s Running Scared 5k! Thanks be to God for the perfect weather, once again!
The Running Scared 5k has an amazing evening in store for you runners, walkers or party-goers! Join us for the 5k at 6pm where you will enjoy a FLAT race through a cemetery and out and back to finish on the Stadium Track. You will be chip timed. The first 50 men and first 50 women to go through the finish line will receive the cutest acrylic mug with this year’s logo. Everyone can stretch out with Oxford Physical Therapy or just head straight into the Haffey Fieldhouse to enjoy hot food and some cool music by our live band, “What She Said.” Outside with the band, are picnic tables and the Beer Garden. Inside is the food from our wonderful sponsors. If you like the atmosphere of festivals, this is very similar. Besides the food, there will be entertainment from our SPPA Dance Team, raffle baskets, silent auction, split the pot and our door prizes. After getting a good look at the costumes, we will announce the costume winners and award the prizes.
All of this AND all of the money raised, goes to Youth Education! Help us, help the children! Register today, so you can get the best price and make sure you get a t-shirt if you want to order one.
