Q. When is the race this year and Where is the Race?

Back by popular demand, with a few changes, the Kids Fun Run planning is in the works!
Running Scared 5k is 6pm with Post Race Party at 6:30-10pm
Reading Veterans Memorial Stadium at 1600 West Street, Reading, Ohio 45215
Q. Can you tell me about the Running Scared 5k?
This will be our 12th Annual Ray Rusche Oxford Physical Therapy Centers Running Scared 5k, and it is always a blast. Held in October, for it’s beautiful weather. Teams may run or walk “In Memory” or “In Honor” of someone. Costumes are not required but they add to the fun! Volunteers from Mount Notre Dame High School have been helping us for the past several years.
Q: How many participants do you average in this race?
500-600 participants in the 5k
Hundreds more spectators and Guests at the post race party!

Q: Can you tell me more about the Running Scared 5k?
Well, it’s a race for a good cause (Youth Education) and of course, the race is also a good cause for a party! For more information about the race, check out “About Running Scared 5k”.
Just so you know – Directly after the finish of the 5k run, participants are admitted to a Party with live band, food and drinks. Every runner / walker is admitted to the Halloween Fest. To consume alcohol, you must have proper ID. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by those with proper ID.
Q: Is Entrance to the Party available to non- race participants?
Absolutely!!!! We encourage your friends to come and cheer you on as a race participant and we certainly want them to come and party with you afterwards! Bring yourself and your friends! Entrance to the Halloween Fest is only $20. It includes FUN, tickets for drinks, (Proper ID is required for anyone consuming alcohol) Food from our wonderful sponsors, costume contest and Live Band. Entrance to the Halloween Fest does not include the race t-shirt.
Q: What’s happening at the Halloween Fest?
Costume Contest with Prizes awarded, Live music, Door Prizes, Split-the-Pot, Raffle Baskets, Food and The Beer Garden outside.
For those who are 21 and over with proper ID, Beer is available.
Q: What’s happening at the Halloween Fest if I’m under 21?
For the under 21 crowd, there is still a Party going on. Food, Soft Drinks, Music and Costume Contest are still part of the fun planned.

Q: What makes this Race so cool, ghoul?”
Well let’s see – You can run in a costume (that’s cool), it benefits Youth Education (that’s cool!), it’s good for your health (that’s cool), there’s a fabulous party afterwards (that’s cool!), there’s all sorts of awesome sponsors , food and drinks (that’s super cool), Oxford Physical Therapy Centers is going to have a tent with therapists “on hand” to stretch you out (again, way cool). After all that, we’re not sure how you won’t find it cool!
Q: What is the route for the Run/Walk?
Race Route is the same as 2017. Flat, out and back, through the graveyard, end on the track for last fraction of mile.
Q: Why is the race called “Running Scared 5k”?
Well it’s the season….you just never know who or WHAT you’re going to see in this race….. Afterall, it is held in October and participants are HIGHLY encouraged to dress in costume as they run this race. You never know, there could be some seriously spooky surprises along the way that will have you ….Running Scared!
Q: Why should I run this race?
Besides the fun, the food, the festivities and the cool t-shirt, your entry fee is going for a great cause – Youth Education!
Q: What time is the race and Where is it at?
Race starts at 6pm. You may park your vehicle anywhere near Haffey Field House and Reading Veteran’s Memorial Stadium at 1600 West Street, Reading, Ohio 45215. The race will start on West Street near the Stadium, wind through the Reading Cemetery and head out and back for a flat, fast course ending on the track in the Stadium, near Haffey Field House, where the party will be going strong.
Q: Will there be awards?
Awards will be given to the first 50 men and the first 50 women as they come through the chute. No Awards ceremony. There are no age category awards.
Q: Will there be water stops and bathrooms available?
There will be water at the start, middle and end of the route. There will be Gatorade on the route. Bathrooms will be available at beginning and end of the route.
Q: Are Walkers allowed?
Absolutely! Walkers will be asked to finish the race on the sidewalk , but the party will still be going when you arrive.
Q: Do You Need Volunteers?
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. If you would like to volunteer, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org (Angie Banker) or email@example.com (Jennifer Mitsch) and they will take your information and keep you informed of your responsibilities, such as pointing runners/walkers in right direction, etc.
Q: What do I get for Volunteering?
First and foremost, volunteers get the satisfaction of helping raise funds for Youth Education. They get to be a part of the 5k. There are ample opportunities to volunteer along the race route, at the Post Race Party, at set-up and at clean-up.
